The sun was around high noon and a light fall breeze was blowing, ruffling the leaves that had fallen. The light breeze carried the fresh scent of apples in the air and that, of a canine. The ashen-gray with reddish hints wolf sat under a almost bare tree except for the bright red apples on it. Some of the apples had fallen from the tree and were scattered around the ground. The wolf beneath the tree did not pay much attention to the apples around him, nor to much of anything that was around, for he was fast asleep. It was because this wolf in particular had been awoke all night low, pacing his den and fearing the shadows the crept into it. He jumped at every sound until the sun rose, then he ventured out of the cave and out of the castle to the forest of Shinrin. Once entering Shinrin, he found a nice tree to sleep under and it was an added bonus that it was an apple tree. Fruit was this wolf's favorite thing to eat, for he was displeased with vegetables and grass was just too plain for his tastes. The wolf snuggled in among the tree's root and fell fast asleep, knowing that he was safe in the daylight; for who would murder then?
As the sun passed high noon, the wolf's ears twitched as a soft breeze whispered in them. Then his dark green eyes opened and he looked around his surroundings. His jaws opened in a yawn, revealing a strange set of teeth unlike that of the average wolf. For this was a land where the average wolf did not live. This was the place of a different set of wolves. After the yawn, Birdy rose and stretched, first his fore limbs, then his hind limbs. He finished his stretch with another yawn, and then sat down with his back resting against the tree's trunk. "Ah, what a fine day," he said softly, looking about. His eyes fell upon the apples that laid scattered around him and his mouth began to water. Then with a smile he crouched down and wagged his lower half; his eyes locked onto their target. Then with a snarl, the wolf launched himself at a very red apple. He captured the apple in his jaws, then tumbled head over heels and stopped in sitting position. A dorky expression was planted on his face.

| [atrb=background,http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6109/erasmustablemid.jpg] Ah, the woodlands of Shinrin, the male's place of origin. With a casual gait and wandering eyes, he made his way deeper into the heart of the forest, which he often did as a pastime. Here and there, his gaze was enraptured by a landmark or general tact of land that he recalled from his younger days. These moments of reminiscence delayed his progression for only a few seconds before he turned back and continued on. Although his destination was nebulous, the wolf didn't mind wandering about. Often times, he found that aimless travels were what allowed him to discover intriguing places or creatures, which he found necessary to maintain an interesting lifestyle. Erasmus wasn't fond of daily routines.
The humming of indirect thoughts procured his attention, and although the sound came to him telepathically, his tan-white ears rose to attention in the direction he believed it came from. Rather than slowing, his gait increased into a light trot as the male attempted to pinpoint the location of whoever the unclear thoughts happened to come from. With confident strides accompanied with muted steps, Erasmus made his way through coppices and underbrush dappled with fallen leaves the colors of a sunset. He had to keep his steel gaze fixed upon the ground to ensure that he didn't trample through a pile of the descended foliage. It felt as if the earth was one large pond, with him playing the role of a toad leaping from one lily pad to another. Scraping the "surface" of the leaves would give away his location to any being that resided nearby. Luckily, he had the ability to jump if the clear patches of ground became few in number and too outspread to reach. The result of using this power was a minor tempest that scattered the leaves in his wake. Erasmus continued this for a few minutes until he came to a complete halt, feeling quite sure that the stranger lurked close by. Looking high above his head, he spotted a tree that had already succumbed to autumn, which left it stripped and nearly barren, except for a few apples that clutched onto its limbs for dear life, for they were too florid to remain up their for long.
Slinking his way closer to its hefty trunk, the wolf lowered himself to the ground and peered through a bush that had begun to grow at its base. What he saw beyond its spindly green form triggered a warm smile to creep along his muzzle: a fellow wolf in a crouching position. In a concise moment, the other male sprung forward, only to embrace one of the apples in his jaws. The somersault was quite a show, and Erasmus couldn't help but guffaw in a soft tone to himself. His eyes scintillated with amusement as he pushed past the shrubbery headfirst, silently making his way into the clearing. "A fine day, yes," he answered aloud, looking around at the azure sky and scenery. The fair russet wolf paused and stood where he was. Looking down at an apple that was a few inches away from him, he reached out and placed his front left paw upon it. Adding pressure, a soft crack was heard beneath his charcoal pads, and the apple split in several uneven pieces. He would eat that later if this introduction phase went well.
"I see you have been busy," Erasmus added with a smirk as he nodded to the fruit in the male's jaws. The light danced across his dark, hooded eyes once more. "You have a mouthful of things to idle yourself with, hm? I hope you don't mind me intruding on your hunt." His gaze scanned the ground from apple to apple, and he gently shook his head in false disbelief. "Your quarry fashions quite the macabre scene. Red, red, red," he mumbled, shaking clean the paw which had crushed the apple a moment before.
